FAITH IN THE DARK
I was diagnosed with breast cancer last June 2025 through a mammogram. The surgeon told me that my right breast had to be removed. I was shocked and devastated when I heard the bad news, as I had no pain whatsoever.
I asked my surgeon what would happen if I didn't do it. He told me it will spread and can be fatal. Sadly, it has already spread to the lymph nodes. I agreed with the removal but told him that I won't be going for my chemotherapy and radiation. He agreed and said he left that to me. My surgery was scheduled to be on 1st July, 2025.
When I came out of the consultation room, I broke down and cried. I asked, “Why, Lord?”
I called my friend and told her of what the doctor had said. She immediately came to meet me. Her sister also came down to see me in the evening.
At the same time, I told my immediate family about the bad medical report, and they were shocked to hear. They gathered to pray for me. Following Sunday, I told my Pastors and three close churchmates about my operation.
On the day of surgery, Pastor Amos and my Pastor said a prayer for me on the phone before the surgery. A leader of Aglow also sent me a prayer message to encourage me.
Surgery was done, and I came home after two days. However, my body was attached with a bottle and had to carry it around for two (2) weeks to dispel the unclean blood. I also had to return to the hospital every five days to check on my wound.
The Oncologist told me that I have to be on hormone tablets for seven (7) years, and my life span is about ten (10) years. The side effects of the tablets are tough, but I manage to go through every phase with the help and grace of God.
With the prayers of all these beautiful people, the bottle was removed, and I was back to church on the third (3rd) week.
Throughout the process, I was bold because God had sent me people who prayed and interceded for me. Without that, I could not have gone through this episode of my life.
When I went to see my Oncologist, he asked me why I didn't want chemotherapy and radiation. I told him my Lord is my chemotherapy and radiation, and HE will take care!
I wish to take this opportunity to thank God for His mercy, grace, and faithfulness toward me throughout my battles with cancer. It is truly about learning to walk by faith in the dark. It is trusting that God has been with me in my ordeal and upholding me with His righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right
hand.
I also thank all the pastors, friends, and Aglow Board Members who have been praying for me.
All thanks be to God! ❤️
